Cold Stories
Rehearsal Project
Milan (IT)
2019
Cold Stories consists of a site-sensitive installation conceived for the rooms of Reharsal Project, Milan. Fragments of industrial and geological elements, many of them coming from the surroundings of the artist’s studio, are arranged with sculptures recalling ambiguous, yet familiar and fragile characters. In the series Alley (Prozis), parts of illustrations found on discarded packagings are covered with tuff sand, becoming stylised low reliefs of private interactions. In Wolf and Untitled (CS), found deer bones are rearranged into ephemeral, confused figures navigating on a black carpet floor. In Sleeping Faith a feline like creature is resting on the artist’s work suit, both the animal and the suit are exposed to a slow process of modification that stops only when they are exhibited together. Dealing with issues of otherness and symbiosis, Cold Stories aims to materialise, through archeological metaphors, intimate encounters between space, human and the more-than-human world. The work includes Un Agghiacciato Mondo: a short poem, generated by an A.I. asked to match up sentences from literature classics, responding to the word “desert”.
